General Ban Ki-moon, U.N. Secretary expressed concerns about possible human rights abuses in Iran and is urging the country to take strict measures to prevent discrimination against women and minorities and their beliefs. The secretary commended Tehran for efforts made in urgent needs like education and health services provisions. Ban is deeply troubled by latest reports on human rights violations in Iran where a number of places and areas need more improvement on treating the people. For one, he expressed concern about the Baha’is minority
group. A brief history of the community reveals that the Baha’is regard their faith’s modern founder as the latest prophet in line with the likes of Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Mohammad. Iran’s Shi’ite on the other hand considers their religion as a heresy. A breakaway concept of the teachings of Islam. Baha’is reported that hundreds of their believers have been incarcerated andothers were executedsince the Islamic Revolution in 1979. There are currently 5 million believers of the Baha’is faith in the entire globe.

Obama: Hillary’s Like Bush

Last time, we reported that Hillary Clinton would “obliterate” Iran if it attacked Israel with nuclear missiles. Most were wondering how Obama would use this in his campaign and how Iran would react top such comments.

Obama minces no words and compares her to a Republican President:

“It’s not the language we need right now, and I think it’s language reflective of George Bush. We have had a foreign policy of bluster and saber rattling and tough talk and in the meantime have made a series strategic decisions that have actually strengthened Iran.”

Is George Bush a boogey man now?

Iran strongly condemned Clinton’s comments, calling her comments as “provocative, unwarranted and irresponsible” and “a flagrant violation” of the U.N. Charter.

Only time will tell whether Clinton said the right thing or not.

Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff , accused Iran that it has been supporting Iraqi insurgents in Basra. Thus, violating the Iranian promises of reducing support for terrorism both in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The Iranian government pledged to halt such activities some months ago. It’s plainly obvious they have not. Indeed, they seem to have gone the other way,” he said. “In these last couple years, you know, that tensions continue to rise, Iran does not respond, and in fact they seem to be ratcheting it up in terms of their support for terrorism.”

He also went on to say that besides giving financial and weapon aid to Iraqi insurgents, Iran also trains them as well.

In the examination of a British military expert, the recent missile launch of Iran means that it is developing a long-range missile.  In addition, Iran is developing a space center, which requires an identical technology to these missiles’ capability.  The report also stated that the capability and size of Iran’s arsenal has been found similar to the facilities of North Korea.
