Implications of US Troop Withdrawal

Posted on May 29th, 2008 by Gary

The United States has been under attack ever since the World Trade Center bombing. The Islamist terrorists have been against the United States and have been trying to break the nation little by little ever since, according to Joe Lieberman.

Campaign endorser for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Lieberman believes that he is better prepared to lead the United States. He is better prepared to be commander of the whole nation, as McCain knows the world, and has been tried and tested to protect the American people’s security, as Lieberman says.

In another context, Lieberman also contradicted Senator Obama’s and other senators’ move to withdraw US troops in the Middle East and the president’s “surge” of more US troops.

Lieberman tells Schieffer, “It’s now working. If we had done what Senator Obama asked us to do for the last couple of years, today Iran and al Qaeda would be in control of Iraq. It would be a terrible defeat for us and our allies in the Middle East and throughout the world. Instead, we’ve got a country that’s defending itself, that’s growing economically, where there’s been genuine political reconciliation, and where Iran and al Qaeda are on the run. And that’s the way it ought to be.”

He believes that the steps that the government is taking little, but monumental steps to stop terrorism throughout the world, and they are doing it in the best way they know how.
